North West Adventure Hub
Hellyer Rally 10th Sept 2022
Results
The North West Adventure Hub is the brainchild of Sally and Richard O’Reilly and incorporates the “Rustic Haven” wedding venue at their Rocky Cape facility.
Based in the former church camp, the property at 19523 Bass Highway not only offers a rustic, barn based function centre for weddings, parties, anything but also a “Base Camp” for weekend hikers, trail bikes and buggies or just simply camping. With access to the forestry and surrounding land, the camp offers a perfect retreat for the adventure seekers.
It can accommodate various numbers of groups in the completely self-contained cabins where everything you need for your weekend away is supplied.

From the outside looking in –
Well done everybody on another very successful hillclimb. Considering it was as close as possible to a “full dress rehearsal” for the biggest hillclimb we are about to undertake was fantastic.
Thanks again to BJR for their fantastic sponsorship and the added bonus instore voucher to boost their trophies. Support our sponsors as they are our greatest supporters. Thanks to Roger Carter and his equipment for the Subaru rescue as well.
Great job by Brooksy and his band of helpers and everybody running around on the day. People like the Junior and Senior Van Der Drift’s that not only compete but also help set up and pack up. That’s just to name a few.
The buses were good but we will refine that even more for April in particular the added extra parking at the railway road closure. There will be many more officials need on the day and a briefing will be held for them pre-event. The pits for competitors only and the service road for officials only worked well. We just need to make it a bit better for spectators backwards and forwards to their parking spot but as stated we will refine the bus run a bit better.
Great job by all. Please all come back for the April 1 event as your assistance will be required and greatly appreciated.
As a closer, Yvonne told me that she had beaten Jack. What she meant was that she was faster than him 3 times out of the 6 but Jack came out on top by .11 of a second so sorry Jack.
(it was close though wasn’t it)

ANDERSONS AUTO TEST
Khanacross has been run and won - see RESULTS
It was all smiles today at the Anderson's Autotest Khanacross. With 48 entries, 15 of them juniors . Thanks to all the competitors, officials, organisers for a great day. Also thanks to Darren Anderson for allowing us hold the Khanacross on his land.

ANDERSONS AUTOTEST #2 April 8th
Saturday morning started with little promise of fun day with rain falling Intermittantly,
however proceedings commenced on time at 11.00 am.
At times the sun came out and then an odd bout of rain fell but the event continued on smoothly.
31 competitors, including 10 juniors, enjoyed the slippery conditions with some of the more experienced drivers losing rhythm on their way and spinning out on the back corner.
The drivers lined up for the morning briefing in damp conditions
The course was swapped around several times.
The top 8 drivers for the day lined up for the King of the Paddock shootout in the NWCC Red Hyundai Lantra (the equaliser)
Consistency is the key to a good result at the end of the day.
Outright winner of the day was Stephen Turner.
The top 8 shootout for King of the Paddock was tightly contested, with the first four within three tenths of a second, but Jarom Rhind won out to take the crown.

New Club Car - Junior Development and social evenings
Thanks to a very generous donation by Eddie Maguire, our club is now in possession of a Hyundai Lantra rally car. The car was one of two built by Wayne Bell for Hyundai Australia to compete in the 1994 Asia Pacific championship, in which it won the formula two category, so it comes with some interesting history. The car will be ideal for juniors or club members to compete at various club events in and could even be used for other purposes such as zero car in rallies or promotion of our club....
Before the Lantra can be used however, it needs a general tidy up and some. . . .

SLALOM OF SYMMONS - GYMKHANA EVENT
The Slalom Of Symmons - Cams sponsored junior development day was held at Symmons Plains raceway. Primarily aimed at introducing newcomers and juniors, from 12 years of age upwards, to a simple form of motor sport.
The event was open to regular members as well. There were enough available places within the entry limit, with approximately 50 contestants enjoying the freezing cold conditions. Can't say the same for the officials out in the blustery cold conditions.
.The event was run on the concrete skip pan area at rear of the pits. .
Vehicle requirements were basic road worthiness. No special clothing or helmets were required.

HELLYER RALLY WRITE-UP
Australian all-wheel-drive rally champions Marcus and Scott Walkem dominated the second round of the Tasmanian Rally Championship series yesterday, the Stanley Hotel Hellyer Rally, winning all eight stages of the demanding event their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9.
The event was also the 25th anniversary Hellyer Rally and attracted a strong field of crews from all over the state, with the event starting from and finishing at the Stanley Hotel.

CJR Enterprises - Mersey Valley Rally
From a cold corner of the state a snippet of rally action. 10 remaining competitors battle out for the honours With six cars from the Hobart area and four from Circular Head the club level rally competitors had a great day. Weather was cold but the forecast rain held off and a bit of sunshine was welcome. Unfortunately this camera spot was in the shade of a big hill.
